Experience required
You need to have run an Ultra 50k or further to participate in the full course.
Gear requirements
- Raincoat
- Waterproof and seam sealed jacket
- Thermal top
- Polypropylene or Merino
- Thermal Beany
- Polypropylene or Merino
- Thermal Long Pants
- Polypropylene or Merino
- Water
- 2+ liters. There are limited options to fill your bottles
- Survival Bag
- All in one survival bag recommended. Reflective blanket and old school survival bag is ok.
- Gloves
- Thermal or running gloves

| Saturday 5:30am | Shuttle to Mangatepopo |
| 6am | Start running |
| 2pm | Finish running at Skotel |
| 2:01pm | Drinks and BBQ at Skotel |
| Sunday 7am | Packup and leave |
| 8am | Breakfast at The Park in National Park |
| 9am | Head back to Auckland, maybe a pub / lunch stop on the way |
Contingencies
If the weather or volcanic conditions are too dangerous to go over the top of red crater, we will do an out and back to Waihohonu Hut as this is lower altitude.
If it is too wet for the Waihohonu Hut option, we will find somewhere nice to do some shorter runs in this beautiful national park. Worse case, hill repeats up the Bruce road.
